Erika Altosaar is a Toronto based artist. Her practice examines femininity and the consequent issues of being a ‘she’. She was drawn to India last year as a way of  familiarizing herself with the caste system, facilitating the study of gendered relations in foreign bodies. With an absent female body, the artist was able to assess and deconstruct the issue of identity through both alien and intimate relationships with women throughout the state.
